rather than bailing them out? GM in bankruptcy would let the company exist and continue to make vehicles, but permit it to fend off some of its creditors while the market turns around.
Obviously, this is not ideal, but then again, the company failing is not ideal anyway, so how could one expect any solution to be. But it sure seems a lot better than spending tax payer money that had nothing to do with it.
No one bailed me out when I blew my retirement a few years back on a bad real estate purchase, why should I have to bail out those who put all their eggs in the GM basket?
