The military doesn't make decisions on their own except on some countries where they rule.
I would say, under directions of government powers if they feel threatened or if they feel like he's a valuable resource they can profit from, then I guess they would. I mean, human nature is to destroy or capture what it doesn't understand, or to see how they can use it for their own selfish agenda. That's just our nature. It would be righteous or sinful depending on how and for what motive we do it.
