I'm 15 and there's this guy I know/like we have know each other for 2 months and talk about everything. We aren't going out with each other but he cares/likes for me and I'm the same for him. We just need to sort out how things will work before/if we go out.

He's really into music and it's his birthday soon so I was thinking of making him a cd with songs he likes and songs I think he will like on it and like writing stuff on the cover like lyrics and stuff cause he's so good at remembering lyrics and likes them.

Guys what would you think of this?
Girls would you do this?

oh and if you know any good songs let me know

I guess giving a guy for his birthday is safe and practical and most important it is a personalized present from you. Since you mentioned that he is a musical person, it makes perfect sense.
I really can't recommend any songs since you didn't mention what he is like and what is the genre he usually listens to.

If you put some thought into the tunes,
keeping in mind his tastes and yours,
I see no harm in making a CD for him.
I've been most touched by a girl spontaneously drawing my picture.
If you must make him a CD, I recommend Man Man,

or Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, here: youtube.com/watch?v=KgkEw4GjtdU,
or some good ol Leadbelly, seen here:

This is a Guy answering.

Almost three years ago, when I was still in high school, my girlfriend made me a mix CD. I loved it and listened to it all the time. She ended up making me a second one, and even though we broke up so long ago I still keep them and listen to them. I know you aren't official, but it honestly won't matter.

Bottom line: It's a great gift. It gives you a chance to be creative about the songs you choose. And it really shows you care. Guys won't admit they have a sensitive side, but any guy would treasure a CD he gets like that. And that's the truth.

When my ex- made me the CD it was really simple. It started because I had remarked that I liked a song on a commercial. I said I was going to have to download it. She knew I was forgetful so she downloaded it instead.

She filled up the rest of the CD with random classic rock. We always listened to classic rock stations in the car and she knew a couple songs that I usually sang along to.

It was genuinely as simple as that, and I will probably never throw those CDs away.

All you really will need to do is find one special or somehow meaningful song that you can put on the CD and it will make it arguably his most memorable gift. Do your best to pay attention when he brings up anything about a band or song the next time you see him. It will really pay off.
