Would lightning photogrpahy come under experimental photography?

I have to write up a dissertation for tomorrow that I totaly forgot about on a style of photogrpahy or photographer of my choice. I need to know would lightning photography come under experimental? Because I was talking about it with my tutor and she said writing a dissertation on just lightning photography would be too short and I can't remember what she suggested looking at instead. I'm sure it wasn't weather photography, although that would be the obvious answer. What else could it come under? And whilst we're at in can you think of any photographers that specialise in lightning photogrpahy? cheers much =]
 
I would not consider it experimental. As a pro landscape photographer I shoot lightning as often as I can.

Indeed, I get more lightning shots in a year than I do rainbow shots.
 
Only if you have never done it before. Most nature and travel photography, shoot lighting routinely.

Deciding on your dissertation takes a lot of time and research. I would think the photographers with the most experience shooting lighting would be the cosmetologists or meteorologists who shoot weather in general.
