Im a smooth driver, i can drive fast n all but i enjoy driving in such way that the passengers enjoy riding in my car (i avoid bumps, extremely smooth gear changes, keep the car nice n quiet, and i always try to keep the car rolling, hardly ever use brakes, manage it with my gears n the throttle)
i change gear normally at appr. 1800 rpm n i normally run it at 1200 rpm.
everything was fine until i read my dad's audi a4 user manual. it said that "you should select a lower gear if the engine speed drops below 1500 rpm". so this got me thinking, what if damaging my beautiful car

i want a professional's opinion on this please (with technical reason) as to whether it's okay to keep my engine running at 1200.
by the way i drive my beloved first car which is a 1998 opel corsa 1.2 12v
