Would it be weird if for a man to play a woman in the play "Extremities"?

I'm a huge Farrah Fawcett fan and i know the play and movie inside-and-out!'

Next year for drama, (yes, im already planning), i was going to perform along with my other 3 friends but i don't know if it would be weird for me to play a woman when there's another two (playing Pat and Terry)?

Would there be a way to change the script e.g. a teenager boy who holds venerability and the theme is murder stealing?

Or do you think that men sometimes playing is part of acting?
Thanks in advance.

That is how acting has been done for centuries, nothing wrong with it... and it is good for flexing your acting muscles, also it builds character. All in all, a good experiance, if a little odd, but I don't let such things bother me, and neither should you.

In the past it was actually illegal, and considered bad luck to allow a woman to act.
