would it be weird for a 6th grader and a freshmen to go out?

I am 12.He is 15. Seniors go out with freshmen so would it be weird. i know the age difference and we held hands SO.I know older guys are out to get one thing but he is good defiantly good. my friend knows him better and she says he is good. if we keep it private what would you say????
