Would it be unreasonable to have a sports car as a first car?

I don't mean a new one, just a sports car. maybe almost ten years old, and i understand that the insurance would be higher but i still would like to know. the car would be under about 9000.
 
No, I had a friend who had a Firebird as a first car. He is a freshman in college, got the car for about $5k on Craigslist, and loves it to death. As long as you can take care of it, go ahead.
 
As a young male, insurance would be monstrous. Anything will due though, it just takes longer to get used to certain vehicles. Some people can't handle a 400whp corvette as soon as they start driving, or ever for that matter. I know I would have been fine, having never been in any wrecks with no tickets after my first 2 years of driving. And counting.
