Would it be possible to take the front end 4x4 components off a 78 ford e-350...?

and put them onto a 1990 e-350, and just swap the 2wd from this one back to the 78 e-350. Its because one is extended(90) and one is not, i want the extended to have 4x4, not 2wd.
