During the heat of the day they will be under some cover like docks or logs adjacent to deep water structure. I would try a rapala X rap for starters. But a minnow and a slip bobber should work great as well.
 
deeper water? I live at Olympia, Washington in the NorthWest. The temperature here about now during the hottest time of day is about 75-80 degrees. I have Rainbow, Bullhead, Smallmouth, Largemouth, and crappies in the lake. I would just like to know if they are in the shallows or in the deep, and if possible, what bait to use. Thank you!
