I am 43 year old Australian Melbourne man. I have problems with loneliness and emotional deprivation. My mother was schizophrenic and my father bullied me.
Females are more sympathetic but in the past a lot of them said things like "relationships are just like the icing on the cake and if you like you can just eat the cake" and having a girlfriend won't solve your mental health problems. Male therapists are more honest in saying a girlfriend will alleviate my emotional deprivation problem and make me feel better. Women don't seem to understand because they look at it from a female point of view (women don't need relationships with the opposite sex as much).
But I want nurturing from a therapist to alleviate my emotional deprivation and current therapist says she is like the mother I never had (my mother was schizophrenic) but my relationship is not so good with her now after I stuffed up my last relationship and she got angry with me.
Male or female therapist?
Can a male therapist make me feel better by praising, complitmenting and supporting me.
All the bullying has made me very anxious about intimate relationships.
