I was recently reading an article about time slowing the faster you travel. I guess my first question is if it's possible to know how much. If we traveled close to the speed of light, or faster, how much time would pass on Earth relative to time spent on the space ship? This leads to my main problem: Would astronauts be able to travel very fast without fear of returning to Earth YEARS later having only been away for a week or two. How about a 6 month mission traveling light years and back. Would generations pass on Earth? Please, tell me if I have this completely wrong. I am entirely new to these concepts.
