I am doing a writing contest and it is about the heartland. the sheet says exactly this... "the heartland must have a direct influence on the characters experiences or problems in the story." So would a business trying to take a farmers girl land for a new building and business be considered a heartland problem? Has this been happening at all in Iowa? please help soon!
