Would anyone else like to see an animated feature scoop 'Best Picture?'

I am a massive fan of animation and don't personally think any live action film can really beat 'masterpiece' animated films - the shere amount of work that must go into them is beyond my comprehension (attention to detail, plot, character design, background design, the whole bunch).

Anyway, I would love to see an animated film receive the Best Picture Oscar and to have my passions taken seriously for once! :D Only one animated feature has ever even been nominated (Beauty and the Beast). I had my hopes on WALL-E at least getting a nomination last year, but obviously it wasn't meant to be  (although Slumdog is a great film, don't get me wrong!). Maybe 'Up' stanRAB a chance...

Anyone else agree with me? Disagree? Share your thoughts! :)

So long as aninated films have their own award for best film it's unlickly to happen . I've no doubts that if they had a best SF/Fanasty award at the Oscars then Return Of The King would not have even been up for best film

Very happy that 'Up' got the Best Picture nomination today! :D Too bad it took the list of nominees being doubled to allow for it, but never mind, it's very much deserved in my opinion :)

'Course it won't win, but it's still a great achievement :D

Up won't win Best Picture so they will give it the Best Annie which means Princess and the Frog is more or less screwed - which is a bit of a shame.

Hopefully Pixar and WDAS will be shifting to an alternate release pattern so then North and South don't have to fight it out come Oscar time.

i would love Up to win best film - its a perfect film i think

as for princess - i liked it but i thought everything about it was average, characters, songs, story, jokes etc

hopefully their next rapunzel will be of beauty and the beast standard

No thanks. I'll be happy if it wins Best Animation though, but there are lots of films out there that should win Best Film over Up. It should have only been in one or the other, not both awarRAB.

^But surely if its an outstanding plot and a visual masterpiece then it deserves to win? Especially if it is clear that it is a better film than any of the others in the category.

I'd rather have a fantastic film, regardless of medium, win over a mediocre film just because it was live action and the animated movie was just that, animated.

I know this does come down to personal opinion, of course.
