ok i want to start a fish store, purely for the fish! bettas would get a 2.5+ gallon tnak and chiclids would be in big tanks with other species and with chinese algea eaters, and i'd have paradise fish, and well i'd just treat the fish really good and stuff. so would anyone buy from this store? i know i sound stupid cause the economys bad...i would also have dog supplys, cat supplys, and bird, supplys. i'd have reptiles too. and theyr supplys too. so lease would anyone buy from thsi store?

This is how I describe a good aquatic store...

1) A good selection of fish, live plants and dry goods. Also whether bowls or tiny aquariums are on sale or not.

2) Knowledgeable, friendly and unpatronizing staff.

3) Well maintained aquariums with no dead or diseased fish (however I will buy from aquatic stores providing diseased or dead fish are removed from sale and in the first case, quarantined and treated accordingly).

4) No dyed or genetically modified fish. Also tankbusters only available to special order.

If you can tick the boxes then you could be onto a winner.

Honestly, 75% of people that go into pet stores aren't looking at the tank sizes for the fish, they're looking at the fish and the prices. So if you did have that fish store, yes, it would be great, if you could keep it like that. But how would you price things? That's really what people are looking for. Most parents just get a handful of goldfish and stick them in a 10g tank for entertainment for their small children.

if you made it a local store, and attracted locals then certainly yes. It sounds like my local fish store which is great.
