Business Job? I am a high school teacher. Every five years where I live, high school teachers can take a year off as a sabbatical.
So, a teacher will work for four years and take the fifth year off (albeit, at a reduced salary).
I am a high school Business Teacher - I am 27 years old. This is my 4rd year teaching. Beginning this September, I will have my fifth year. I have opted to take my sabbatical.
Most teachers use the fifth year to go on vacation and relax. A smaller number go back to school for a master's. I have a different plan.
As a Business Teacher who has never had any real-world experience, I would like to spend my fifth year working in business so that I can bring some practical background with me to the classroom the next school year. Over the past four years, I have learned how difficult it is to teach courses like Management, Entreprenurship, Marketing, etc., without any actual experience. It's all theory - no practice.
I have a few questions:
1) Is this a good idea? Or should I just take a vacation - you're only young once, right?
2) Would any business hire someone for just one year? If so, who?
I have a BBA in Banking and Finance, an MEd in Business Education, and an MBA in Marketing.
Please advise.
