...knee in boot camp ? and was given and Honorable medical discharge due to the injury,Be intiltled to a settlement or disablitly??? Through out the 30years since he injury was able to self medicate him self for the first 12 years (by taking days off work when his knee would swell up)his bones in the knee were grinding together because he had no cartilage in between, he has had a parcel knee replacement, only suppose to last for 10years (paid by Workman's comp) about 15years ago. since being fired because of his inablitly to work at normal pace. Now at the age of 54 he is unable to get a job or hold a job down, due to not being able to move fast, unable to do stairs, bending over, ( It's hard for him to exercise with not have no money or insuance) over the years he has gradually gained weight and now weights 378 pounds and is only 5' 10" tall has had heart problem since he was 35 and has recently found out he was dibetic. Please help me find the right answer my father!! thank you for taking the time to answer my question.

Call the nearest VA hospital and talk to them. It may be possible to get some sort of disability rating. Alot of time has passed, they may deny it. Hopefully he has his med records and there is some sot of documentation about his knees, if not I wouldn't hold my breath.

go to your local Veterans Administration Office, usually located in your County's Court-House~!

tell them your situation, fill out paperwork, provide the proper documents, wait for a hearing on your case, and if you lose you can appeal~!

if he was in during War-time, such as Vietnam Era, he may be eligible for non-combat disability pension, along with Social Security Disability Pension~!

just ask questions and take action and you will get answers, but don't take no for an answer until you absolutely sure~!

and while he is waiting for the hearings he may be able to get General Assistance~!

good luck~!

He needs to go to the VA and file for a disability claim. He may want to get a veterans organization to help him with it, VFW, American Legion, or DAV.

The person would have to go to VA to file, but the injury has to be documented in their military medical file and you should have all paperwork documenting why discharged also.
