would a heavy backpack cause me to loose height?

im only 17

When i was 16 i was measured at 5'10.5''

I'm now measuring only 5'9''... and only JUST 5'9''!

Cus i was shocked i've had it checked several times and i have definately lost an inch/inch and a half or so of height.

I do very very very often carry a heavy backpack that often causes me aches and pains around my shoulders/neck/back

I'm highly suspicious that the two could be related....

Is this in any way possible?

I've heard of the spine compressing?

Spinal damage can cause height loss, but from a backpack at 17 it seems unlikely. You should see a doctor to be safe though.
