...in new york and I am in texas? A debt collector from a place called Greystone Allience in NY he claimed to be a lawyer that Bank of America hired to take me to court and sue me, he never gave me a total amount owed, and I know he wasnt really a lawyer. The original credit card was $1000, I know that it will be more with interest and all. I heard somewhere that they cannot sue me if they are out of state, but I am unsure, also wouldnt it cost them more in the end to sue me over $1000? Lawyers alone would cost more than that. I dont own my own home, I only own 1 vehicle (only worth about $800) and I only owe a couple of payments before I own my van outright (its worth about $4000) can they sue me and take my vehicles away, or garnish my husbands wages (I am not working)

The debt collector will pursue the charges. Its not going to be something that you will have to show up for. But they will either garnish your wages, which means take a certain amount of money out of your check each week or bi weekly or they will just put a judgement on your credit. You could call them yourself and let them know you will agree to pay so much monthly and they will leave you alone.

They can sue not only for the amount owed and interest and penalties but that can sue you for the amount it cost them to sue you as well. Just pay the freaking money.

he was just saying that to scarce you.did you ever receive a letter from them?if they don't send you a letter first, then they are not suppose to call you.there was actually a thing on the news last night about how collectors try to scare people in to paying things.that is against the Fair Collections Act,so when they call don't give them any information, just tell them to send you a letter.if the creditor put you in collections they will have your address already.
