would a 5 speed out of a 4.3 vortec chevy hold up with a 350v8?

I am looking to buy a 97 chevy fullsize truck that has a 5 speed, 4.3vortec. The moter in it is blown and I was just thinking about putting 350 in it and was wondering if the tranny and would hold up.
