This is so frustrating. During the hours of about 4-7 I get horrible anxiety, almost every day. Before 4, I feel pretty good and after about 7 I feel pretty good. But I have these three hours or so where it's really rough. I can't figure it out or figure out how to solve it. Anyone have this experience and have advice? Thanks

Hi, Ljenner . . . it would seem there is something about that period of time that triggers your anxiety. What you can do is try to think of something bad that might have happened during those hours in the past or what might be coming during that time period each day that puts you on edge.

Once you can figure out what the connection is to feeling anxious about that time, you can analyze it and self talk yourself into realizing that just because it happened once, it does not necessarily mean it will happen again. If it is something current, you need to try and figure out what it is (coming into contact with a certain person, a scary commute home from work, etc.)

Sometimes it can be as simple as your blood sugar hitting a low if you have not eaten anything since lunch (I know because I have both anxiety and hypoglycemia). You might try a light protein snack a couple of hours before your anxious time begins to see if that could help.

Let me know what you figure out!

hi there,hope all is well,
another thing which could be happening is that you are expecting to feel anxious at this time because it happened before. Its like you actually seek the anxiety out and cause it.Will give you an example.I went into a shop one day and had a massive anxiety attack at the till, was horrible, anyway i stopped going to that shop because i felt it would happen again. When i did eventually build up the courage and face it guess what it happened again. Its as if i sought out the anxiety.
I suggest you leave your house at this time,go for a walk or visit a friend, just something, maybe this will cut the cycle.
Good luck,i hope this helps.
Takecare.

I also typically have anxiety issues that time of day. I felt the same way as you...downtime after work and waiting to start the nighttime routine with my daughters. It just seems like the downtime gives me more time to think and moll things over in my head over and over.

My situation is a bit different though--I was recently diagnosed with MS and that is what is related to my anxiousness. During those downtimes, I tend to perseverate on my condition. After the nighttime routine, I'm OK because I'm gearing up for bed. It helps if I stay busy during that time even if it's doing crossword puzzles, house chores or playing on the computer.
