I have had a pelvic twist for some time and managed but my job involved lifting and the problem has now reached such extremities that i am no longer able to work.
I have had possibly too many chiropractic sessions to the movement where my pelvis will no longer stay in place and am not able to pick up even a pint of beer. I have had an MRI Scan which has determined that the problem is not linked to anything in my vertebrae. But of course the problem is in L4,L5,S1. I have in the past had prolotherapy injections (sclerosent) which have helped but now it seems do not have any effect. My chiropractor out of concern has refused to 'put me straight' without a 4 week break to let things settle down? So now I have extreme pain spasmodically on either side of my back to down one leg or the other (sciatica).
I can live with the pain at present but have now got to the point where I am afraid of doing anything because in effect the muscles and or ligaments/tendons are so weak and or possibly scarred that my pelvis keeps coming out of alignment. When it is in the right position the pain is immediately alleviated.
With it being out all the time walking swimming, exercises etc are out of the question but I have had a recent injection and this is what i'm supposed to do. (the chicken and egg situation). Can anyone think of a viable alternative therapy to get the muscles/ligaments to strengthen again. Thanks

I injured my back in sept 2007 doing squats with weights. Before it completely healed, I was an idiot and played hockey and made it worse. I saw my physio to rehab and it was slowly getting better and being the idiot I am i went to play sports again.

I continued with my rehab but it didn't seem to be working this time, I went to another physio a friend recommended and he pointed out my initial problem is my pelvic alignment is misaligned. He would put me back in and have me do gentle core exercises. Whenever it gets a little better, he would increase my exercises which prove to be too much and hurt it again, causing me to restart.

A few months after my alignment would be misaligned again and again quite easily, almost weekly. It's frustrating because each time it's out, it feels worse and have to get him align it again. But by that time, all that I did to improve it gets reseted and I'm back to square one.

This has been going on for quite some time and it's only 1 of my rehabing problems.

Bone scan showed I have inflammation in my SI joints.
MRI showed nothing wrong.

He recommended I try prolotherapy but after reading mixed reviews, I'm a little skeptic.

It seems you and I have a similar problem andrew. The only difference it seems is that my muscles are far weaker than yours as the mentioned exercises by you are waaaay out of the questionf or me.

Questions
1. How old are you
2. Rough estimation of the length of time you've had your problem.

Prolotherapy for a start wont do you any harm i had many years ago and it did help a great deal. It wont completely alleviate your problem but you will be able to get by. The only reason mine didnt work was because of my last time and i made it weak again to a point where i feel i may have overstretched ligaments and muscles around my right side and have tried everything.

But for you the injections might do the trick if you don't abuse yourself and think you are completely cured. It will strengthen the muscles and ligaments together and more than likely you may have to have possibly 4 injections. I know they are not cheap, here they run at
