Working Web Apps on Smartphones?

I have been testing different applications on my Q to see which ones currently work with Cricket WAP. I have found Weather Watcher (freeware) works well for checking your weather in any area. Microsoft Live Search works well on the phone too. Google maps works great without any problems. I use Internet Explorer as my web browser as Opera wont work correctly on my Q, and the java verison wont connect to the net. I wasnt able to use the java Gmail app either. I havent found any Chat programs working yet tho. What is everyone else using on theirs?

As said.

Windows live search (Maps. Traffic. Directions. Movies.)
Fizz weather works and you can adapt if to any home screen.

(posted wirelessly. MOTQ. IE5 Smartphone edition. Cricket.)

I am dying for a working IM app. I have some of the paid one's and they don't work. They all say "Failed To Connect" or just stay "Connecting..."

But I have a ton of games:

Super Nintendo
Nintendo
Sega Genis
Gameboy
Gameboy Advance

What's even greater is when I think of a new game I can just download it directly from the web. Super Mario, Double Dragon, Sonic, Mortal Corabat, I got them.

I also have some neat applications:
Piscal Browser
Vito Remote (Works great for home TV's, no programming needed)
Novi Remote (Works great for everything with a remote control, TV, Cable or Sat Box, Lights etc...)
6700 KeyBoard Fix (Allows multiple key presses on the 6700, great for gaming)
TCMP (media Player)
WisBar Advance Desktop
Wisbar Advance 2.x

I have the new Simpson's Movie, in DVD quality (dam near as good as it gets). It looks great.

Anyone willing to share, trade or post some great programs. There is a hidden(not really) thread on this site with a ton of free java games, but I don't like or want those.

I WANT WORKING I.M.

I got ebuddy to work. I went to ebuddy.com/mob and downloaded the PocketPC MDA version. I have midlet manager on my phone, and it installed in there, it connected and it works fine. Now I wish you could log into more than one account at the same time, like two yahoo accounts instead of one.

Does yours work in the background? Mines will not receive a new message unless it is the active window, this sucks. You are right it's better than nothing.

Sweet!

Now I'm gonna have to start working on a new extrom full of all the goodies like ebuddy that I want to add... anyone know if there's a ebuddy.cab file around? the download is a .jar which won't work in an extrom.

healthman/vetvito,

Can you give me some info on installing ebuddy? I got the jar file for the Pocket PC MDA, but when I try to install it, the java midlet says "The archive file for midlet cannot be found at the URL"

Any help?

badutahboy,

I had that same problem. When it's trying to install it, it shows a link to a JAR file. Be quick and take note of that link. Once the installation fails, direct IE to that link, download the JAR, and then run that.

Downloaded on the phone... when the file opens, it opens my java applet and prompts me to install... I do, and after a minute or so it times out and gives the error I posted above... I tried going to the site it shows and that site says it's a broken link... I wonder if they changed their download page but forgot to update the links.
