Working behind the scenes at a news network, what degree is best?

I have a two year degree, but am now looking to go back to school for something completely unrelated to what I originally planned. I have always been interested in journalism and originally that is what I was going to major in, but I realized that it was somewhat of a dying field and very difficult to make a good living in. The idea of working at CNN, ESPN or local news stations though is still very intriguing and a bit of a dream. I don't really want to be an on-air personality, but getting involved behind the scenes would be great. What would be the best major to go with, Communications? I am considering a B.S. in Communications, but I thought that perhaps a B.S. in Information and Communication Technologies might be broader and allow me to dive into different areas as well. Can anyone give me any sort of advice as to what I should do?
