I injured my back in 2008 and went to crappy worker's comp doctors and physical therapists. They never tried to understand what the problem was, just went through the motions for "lower back pain." After a few months of horrible pain, I finally felt well enough to go back to work. In order to go back, I had to "close" my worker's comp claim. However, I never felt like my back improved to the way things were pre-injury. I fell down the stairs last year - it wasn't a big fall - but my back started to hurt in the same place again. I missed work but figured I couldn't file a workers comp claim since this time, it didn't happen at work. I went through phyiscal therapy again, although I still never received a diagnosis explaining the back pain. Now skip to 2011 and guess what...the back pain returned after a minor work-out at the gym. Same exact pain as the first time I injured it. Except this time I sought proper treatment with an orthopedic doctor and found out it's my SI joint. He wants to do a cortisone shot and afterwards, more phyiscal therapy. Basically, the bills are piling up and I'm missing MORE work. I'm just wondering if I could contact my original workers comp representative and see if they will cover these costs? I feel like I never received adequate care that could have prevented these other two injuries from happening so easily. So does worker's comp claims cover a re-injury that didn't happen at work?
