Work Experience at a restaurant/bakery?

I'm in year 10 and doing my work experience in July but I need to know where I'm going to do it by Christmas. I was thinking of working in a restaurant or a bakery but what kind of things would I be doing? And where would take me? There is a Greggs in my town that I was thinking of going to but how would I go about getting the work experience there? It's only a week long but if I don't find something then my school chooses for me and I could end up anywhere =(
