Hopefully of some interest to y'all ... https://www.mylookout.com/

Lookout is a useful tool to install on your Android handset, particularly if you want to be able to Locate your handset should it be lost or stolen. I found it last night and installed it on my Nexus One where it works a treat.

Available on Android Market - download and run up the app, it will ask you to register and sign in. Once done you can then go to their web portal where you can configure up the handset for AntiVirus and Backup your data.

Most useful is the Locate feature that will track your handset down and show its location on a mini Google map. It will use GPS if the handset can see the satellites for a more accurate location (down to 7m). You can also trigger the handset to constantly "howl" until it is powered down. Useful to locate the handset and the local perp with a gang of your mates and clutch of baseball bats (should you be that way inclined ).

At the moment the tool is in beta and free. I can't see anything on the website that says it going to be 'paid for' in the future, but I have asked.

Its similar to MobileMe's "Find my iPhone" tool in that latter respect.

The usual disclaimers apply. No connection with yadda yadda ..

Enjoy.
