I developed a cough that got violent pretty quickly. For about two weeks I had been using everything over the counter, including Robitussin. It wasn't getting any better and it was a real barking, chesty cough. So I went to the doctor. Doctor listened with the stethoscope and said "you have a LOT of mucous in your chest." She gave me 4 prescriptions to take for 5 days and told me to come back after 5 days if it was not dramatically improved. It was Zithromax antibiotic, the gusafeine-codeine cough syrup (not sure I'm spelling that right), a pro air inhaler (probably because my oxygen was a bit low), and something called Benzonatate for the coughs. Now I am on the morning of day 3. Yesterday I started gagging like crazy and vomited up some liquidy mucous. Yellow green. No actual "puke" vomit mixed in with it, just all mucous. I figured well that's gross but it's good that it's coming out. I've already been coughing and hacking up phlegm nonstop for weeks. But last night from 1-3am I was alternating between short bouts of sleep and waking up hacking and vomiting this liquid mucous. I am not sure if I should go back to the doctors early or just wait it out a couple more days, or if that is normal or maybe a result of the meds I am taking and I should stop one or all???
