My grandmother was born in a work camp in Hamburg, Germany in March 1944. Her parents were taken from Poland to this camp. She doesn't remember the name of the camp, but she knows that it was more of a work camp rather than concentration camp, as the conditions weren't that bad, considering she was able to be born and survive. I know the concentration camp in Hamburg is called Neuengamme.
I was wondering if there's any WWII history buffs out there who might be able to help me out with this? Maybe there was part of Neuengamme that didn't have the harsh concentration camp conditions?
Thanks in advance!
Sorry, I guess I should mention that my question is that I wanted to know the name of the camp.
Thanks!
