I slowly lift myself from the foul waters.
My mind races as I realize where I reside,
Five circles deep into the inferno,
Wishing only to be by your side.

I silently avoid the ever watchful boatsman.
I hastily move along through the haze.
Collisions and loud voices are all I hear.
I must find you, I must escape this maze.

I convulse quietly as I climb into the torment.
The terrible beast glares through the icy rain.
In a dead sprint, I rush past the tortured souls.
I will see you, this endeavor won't be in vain.

I'm nearly blinded as I scale into the whirlwind.
I see above, the judge beginning the coils in his tail.
I must be gone before the count of five.
I won't be sent further from you, I will not fail.

I thrust my body higher, into the deafening screams.
A shared sorrow is all that holds me here.
Guilt envelopes me as I leave behind the porr youth.
I can't stop, not with you so near.

I continue upward, across the river.
I focus solely on the piercing white light.
Souls are wandering blindly around me.
You are all I desire as reward for this plight.

Through the arches of hell, i pass.
I lay glance upon your face, your eyes, your smile.
Even if I were sent back right now,
That beautiful sight made it all worth while.
