I must be getting old, I turned this film over so I didn't watch any more at about the point where she managed to shoot him in the vicinity of his head - I suspect it didn't kill him and that wasn't the end of it, though

Well its over now so your safe to switch to channel 4 :p

Was it based on a true story? Or was the writing at the end just for affect?

Thought the flim was weird!

He killed who i thought was the main character, the english girl!!! It was scarey whe he shot the old man from nowhere!!!

and how fast was that car chasing the girl!

Pretty gd film nonetheless!

If you look up information on Ivan Milat on the internet you will find that it is horrifyingly close to the Wolf Creek movie.

Ivan Milat was a serial killer in New South Wales who, in the 1990's, picked up hitch hikers and took them into the wooRAB where he tortured and killed them. A lot of the descriptions with regard to what he did to his victims matches incidents in this film. He was eventually caught and is serving life in prison.

This is apparently one of the main sources of the story of the film.

If you get the dvd there's a featurette about the film and John Jarrett (the madman) really lived the part off the set to get into the role....
He's meant to be a really nice bloke in real life....I really enjoyed the film......

Saw this film the other night too.. Oh my God! What an excellent film - a real edge-of-your-seat kinda gripper! Was really shocked when the main girl got killed too, they usually get away!
..And I missed the first 5 minutes of it too - so when I saw it was based on a true story - it freaked me out!

I don't know where I heard it from but I heard it was a true story. Obviously, what happened between the 2 girls and the whacko was made up because the only survivor was tied up in a shed somewhere and never saw what happened.

I posted this earlier on in the thread with regard to where the story came from. Amongst the first bodies found were that of 2 English girls and the description of their injuries as found by the Pathologist when he examined the corpses are much as the story of the film...........

I've just found out that the mining camp in the film was the name of backpacker murderer Ivan Milat spelled backward as Navithalim Mining.
