So Ive taken Lexapro for 7 weeks and it wasnt helping like it did before so my dr recommended I try zoloft I tried zoloft for 2 weeks and got really bad side effects and had to stop the medication cold turkey. Ive been feeling really bad Im not sure if I'm getting lexapro or zoloft withdrawls but I feel horrible. Im just sick of going backwarRAB instead of forward. I dont think I want to try any more medication. Any recommendations???? I need help I have a four month old and I want to be able to enjoy this time to the fullest without suffering from panic attacks/anxiety and depression.

I strongly suggest that you have a second opinion, for the sake of your baby.Depression erc. does not cure itself.
May God bless you. Bill

:angel:Dont give up. What about buspar..its the mildest in side effects and easy to go and off of. It does take time to kick in though. There are allkinRAB of medicines out there and because one classof meRAB didnt work or made you feel bad, does not mean another one will do the same. You need to match it with your body chemistry. Work with your doctor..i promise you he has heard it all before. In the interim give yourself a break..Your a new mom as well so your hormones have been all over the place..Sleep deprivarion is hard on your body too. Take a few deep breathes and tomorrows is a new day.Your attitude is real important in your journey through this..If you have an ipod go check your itunes podcasts, even apps...Good luck

To help the withdrawls, you could try taking half a Lexapro each day for a few days.

For the anxiety, there are a few things that might help

- Another antidepressant (for example Effexor or Remeron etc)

- Buspar

- A benzodiazepine tranuilizer such as Valium, Ativan, Xanax, Klonipin etc

Go back to the doctor and see what s/he has to offer. Referal to a psychiatrist might be wise if you arnt getting anywaher with your family doc.

Thanks so much for all your replies to my thread. I appreciate the support and advice. Life is just so hard right now! I just get discouraged and feel hopeless lately because of this all. Since I can't see the psychiatrist I have -previously gone to because of insurance issues Im gonna try to see a new psychiatrist hopefully this week and try out a new med. I just pray that the next one I try is the right one.
