Wow, this plan is ridiculous. Looking back at the last two Wrestlemanias, approximately 960,000 people ordered WrestleMania XXV, even after booking Triple H vs Randy Orton, Shawn Michaels vs Undertaker, Jeff Hardy vs Matt Hardy, and John Cena vs Edge vs Big Show.This amount was less than the 1,058,000 buys that WrestleMania XXIV achieved.
And Wrestlemania XXVI last year didn't do any better. Approximately 885,000 people ordered the event. This figure is down from WrestleMania XXV's figure of 960,000 buys. And that was after Vince booked Shawn Michaels vs Undertaker, Chris Jericho vs Edge, Vince McMahon vs Bret Hart, Sheamus vs Triple H, CM Punk vs Rey Mysterio, and John Cena vs Batista.
And both events didn't even have a sold out crowd. Worse yet, WWE had to give away 10,000 free tickets for Wrestlemania XXVI to fill out the empty seats.
If these two dull matches have really been penciled, then the other two boring matches to go would be Triple H vs Sheamus & Undertaker vs Wade Barrett. Wow, that's 4 horrible matches already. And all featuring supposed main-eventers no less!
Will Wrestlemania's 27 buyrate even reach 750,000 or even 500,000 with such a lousy card? I think it will definitely suffer no sold out crowd again this year, and that makes it 3 years in a row.
I joked last year saying Wrestlemania 27 might replace Wrestlemania 9 as the worst Wrestlemania ever. O God, my joke is becoming true it seems.
