With all the others on here, I thought I’d give my idea for a car that ignores the...
...first law of thermodynamics? It’s a big wind-up car, like the toy ones, only full size.
It has a big crank key on the side and when you turn it, it winds up a big spring. That spring drives the wheels and makes the car go down the road.
There are two of these springs, one on each side of the car, the first with a crank key, the second without.
After you get going there is a fifth wheel that is lowered to the ground. This wheel is rotated by the forward motion of the car and it is connected to the second spring, so that the second spring is wound up as the car goes along. Once the second spring is completely wound the car switches to using the second spring to drive the wheels and switches the fifth wheel to wind up the first spring. When the first spring is wound up again it then switches back to the second. It keeps going back and forth between springs as it goes down the road.
Since one of the springs is always kept wound the car could keep on going as long as the driver wanted, without using any gas or electricity or anything.
Does that sound cool or what???
