$80 a month seems high for full coverage. I pay about $550 per year with Geico for full coverage on my 2008 1098S. That's a $1000 deductible and I don't remember what the limits were, but they're as high as I could get without having a special policy written. Keep in mind though that I have a clean driving history, I'm married and I'm a homeowner. Your situation may be similar or different. When I called to insure the 1098S with Progressive (my previous carrier for my RC51), they quoted me about $2250 or so. Call around and you may be surprised at what you find for insurance rates.

As far as pricing goes. I think my dealer had the 848 going for $12,900 (with "freight and prep"), so you'd have to add license and reg plus tax.

There is a great insurance thread around here somewhere but I got a geico quote for 517 per year. I need to switch as Farmers is taking double right now. Progressive is apparently horrible for Ducati owners (1098, 848)

Im going to call them tomorrow. I called a couple other dealerships in the area, but they didnt have any either.

As for insurance goes, Im 27, single, no kids, some tickets, but not in years and one accident, not at fault. I was hoping to keep the price for the bike and insurance to around $300-$350. With the price they gave me, it would have been a lot closer to $400. I can afford it, just dont want to pay that much for something that Ill be riding in my free time (and I work 6 days a week).
 
Good point about riding periodically. Let your insurance company knows that you only ride it 30 miles a week and only during the summer. Good luck.
 
While you are checking farther south, call Moto Forza in Escondido. Better yet, just hop on the 15 and drive down there. What the hell. if you're in Escondido, might as well just keep driving to GP in San Diego. Then stop at FunBike for a good look at accessories and riding gear.

Haha. I already have the jacket, gloves and helmet I want picked out and the cash saved for those. I really dont want to drive down 100 miles to check out a bike that is too expensive. Ill give them all a call and if the deal is right, Ill drive 100 miles to buy it.
