I had my wisdom teeth (all 4) removed Friday; so it's been a little under a week. The first 4 days I was perfectly fine.. just a little mild soreness in my jaw, which I expected. I hadn't even taken the prescription pain medication since the very first day. Then yesterday I was eating pizza and all of a sudden it hurt to swallow. Ever since dinner last night, every time I swallow it's like someone is sticking a sharp metal object into the top right wisdom tooth socket. I'm worried I may have knocked the clot out last night, but everything I read about dry socket says it's extremely rare to develop it on the top. I know it's dry because when I drink, it's not so bad. Spitting is fine, but yawning kills. I'm trying not to swallow, but it's inevitable. I tried taking some Ibuprofen just now, but I'm not sure if that's going to help. What is going on? I have a follow up appointment with my oral surgeon on Saturday, but if this Ibuprofen doesn't help I'm not sure I can wait.
