Wisdom Teeth

If you smoke, stop until they heal, don't drink from a straw and make sure you flush the sockets out, or you could get a dry socket. They suck. I had mine out last summer and until I got the dry socket it wasn't bad. Afterwards for about a week or so it sucked hard.

It also took a long time for the sockets to heal over for me, that isn't normal though, generally 6-8 weeks, one of mine is just closing up still...

Damn...that sounds awful! I've heard horror stories of people smoking and eating doritos (yes, people I actually know) right after surgery and getting dry sockets. That was my main concern this whole week; not to fuck up and make recovery painful.

It's been about a week since I first got mine out and I can still feel depressions in my mouth where the surgery was performed. I think so far things have healed on-schedule but I'm not completely sure...I think I swallowed a stitch last night that dissolved and my jaw is a nice yellow color now.

I've had all of my wisdom teeth taken out, and they've never knocked me out. Shot me with so much novacain(sp?) that it ran down the back of my throat and I almost threw up on the dentist, but never knocked me out. Not a big deal really, a lot of yanking, and some major pain killers. Don't drink through a straw, all that garbage.

They knock you out if they have to cut you open. If the wisdom teeth are already through, then they will just shoot you up and pull them out.

Pictures!
