Wisdom teeth removal...swelling of cheeks?

I had my wisdom teeth out yesterday. I barley had any swelling of my cheeks, but this morning I woke up and they swelled. Over the last hour, they have swelled big time.

I know the first 24 hours you are supposed to use ice packs. But do the ice packs work after 24 hours? What can I do to keep the swelling to a minimal, if anything?

Also, I keep getting so hungry. All I've been eating is soup. Anyone know anything else I can eat that isn't bad for my teeth?
