Wisdom Teeth Removal Aftercare?

I know Google is there, but I feel more like getting personal answers. I had all four wisdom teeth removed yesterday, they gave me some codine-type painkillers but now my left bottom tooth area (where the wisdom tooth used to be) is killing me. I want to take more painkillers but I'm afraid that's what may have caused me to bump it and not notice it before. It almost feels worse than yesterday.

Any suggestions? (holding an icepack to my face right now and considering rinsing with saltwater)
