I live in Wisconsin and the Temperature sometimes gets down to -20. This is my first bike and I am wondering the best way to store it. Climate Controlled storage up here is about 199.99 a month. Way out of my price range. Outside storage is about 45.00 a month. Is this my only option? If I was to store it in outside storage, how do I do it? I know about the fluids and battery, but what about wrapping it?

My bike is: 1989 400CR Mint.

I know I cant leave the bike outisde, or can I? Any options other that 199.99 a month?

I kept mine outside in Southern Michigan and also in Upper Peninsula of Michigan, before I got smart and moved to where the sun shines.

If it is water cooled make sure it has antifreeze in it.
Get it to where you want to store it.
Drain the gasoline from the tank with the reserve petcock open and then run the engine until it dies from lack of fuel. Try starting it two or three more times to make sure all the fuel is out.
Take the battery out. Store it at home (in the house where it is warm)
Cover the bike with a tarp or something and tie it on if you are worried about sun and snow damage.

Charge the battery a couple of times during the winter.
Before you go pick it up in the spring make sure the battery is charged.
Bring some new gas with you; gas that hasn't been sitting around for months.

I always had to remove the spark plugs and pour a few drops of fuel into the cylinders, then re-install the plugs to get mine to start in the spring. So you might want to make sure you have a spark plug wrench with you when you pick it up in the spring.
