Wireless Router ---> Wireless Extender (client) ---> Switch?

I have a task that I'd like to accomplish.
First my current setup is
Wireless Router ---> Desktop PC w/ Linksys Wireless PCI Nic

I want to put my computer to sleep and have it WOL (Wake on Lan)
It is enabled in my BIOS and on Logmein which I use.
The problem is that my Wireless NIC doesn't support (Wake on Lan).

My proposal is to:
Setup a Wireless Extender/Router as a client to my main Router(Linksys) via Wireless and connect to my desktop via LAN cable.

I have need for 2 LAN connections by my desktop, so this is why I proposed a Router or Switch to facilitate this.

The question is what is a recommended device to purchase for this project?
I've looked at Linksys 802.11g Wireless-G Range Expander-WRE54G-RM which a friend is mine is using flawlessly but not for my purpose. Will that work with a switch if plugged into it's 1 LAN port?

I already have a 4port and 8port Linksys switch FYI

Running wired to the Router is not possible in this situation.

Yes, this is all to get my Desktop PC to go to sleep.
It is a powerful machine and do not want to use up all of it's cycles running IDLE while my use is 15% and then the computer dies due to having 892332949294 hrs on it.

Thank you in advance. Help me Obi Wan Kan obi.
