I have a Huawei EC228 data card through alltel. (Yes, I know it's over 2 years old...we're in the process of getting rid of it and switching to DSL, it's just going to be a few months before we do so.) I'm looking at getting a new laptop that has the Windows 7 OS on it. Problem is, my wireless card isn't compatible with 7. I've searched for drivers for it, and found one and only one on some site that I can't remember (not Alltel, Windows, OR Huawei though) and really don't trust the site. (Especially not to download something onto a brand-new computer from.)
Is there any way that I can rig the wireless card to work on the 7 computer? Router, or ANYTHING?!?! I don't care if it looks ghetto or anything, as long as it works....LOL.
Marvin- An ok answer, and yes, the computer that I'm looking at has wireless built in (as does the old one I'm using now), but my problem is that my card has to be plugged into my computer's USB slot for us to have any sort of connection. We don't have a landline or DSL (YET) and I'm trying to find a setup or something that will buy us some time until we're ready to switch to DSL here in a coupla months. (And we're out in the country with no neighbors who live nearby with a wireless set up that we could "piggyback" off of.)
