I am having to use extremely old laptop which is running XP sevice pack 1. When I have tried to update XP some kind of major error occurs with the laptop and Windows will not reboot. The only way I can then fix things is to load up in safe mode and reinstall XP.
The media player on my laptop is very old and I would like to download a newer version . If I download a new version of say Windows Media will it also download the XP updates that cause my laptop problems?
If so, would an alternate Media player ie Realplayer avoid this problem?
