Windows XP Media Center Service Pack 3 + IE7 Help!!!!?

I reinstalled windows XP Media center using a install/repair disk but now I can't install windows SP3 or IE7 at all. My friend says that Microsoft thinks that you have a "pirated or fake windows." I bought this cd from dell and can someone please help me with this!!!!

you need an updated installer from m$ like installer 3, ie7 was scrapped as a bad attempt stay with 6 or use 8
