Windows Media Player HELP!!!?

I keep trying to watch a DVD on my computer, but for some reason I cant. It keeps saying "cant play DVD because a compatible DVD Decoder is not installed on your computer"

what does that mean? Where can I get the compatible one?? Can I download one? I have an
HP PAVILION ZE4900.....

please help!
