Windows Live Problem (Spam issue)?

My sister got this message from her friend asking if "these are your photos" and there was a link. She clicked on it (even though I told her not to -_-) and now Windows Live crashes from sending spam to everyone. Someone said it was a crack spammer, or something of the sort, but what is it? And how do I get rid of it? Is it a virus?
I've got my virus scanner running to find it.
