I have a Dell laptop that is not even a year and a half old yet.
Its pretty big and I do take it around with me sometimes and it has a case and everything. I'm not saying it isn't a little beat up but never anything major mostly like the screen frame gets loose and I just push the two sides together. I don't know if it is a hardware problem or not. It is a possibility but at the same time my laptop hasn't made any weird noises or anything.
This issue has been occurring for about 9 days now.
The problem seems to occur if I open Google Chrome even once. It'll usually work fine for a few minutes or even a few hours but then while clicking something my mouse will click but nothing will happen. My cursor still moves but everything on screen is frozen. So I have to press the power button down and force my computer to reboot. This is the most common scenario though I have also gotten a blue screen twice. Sometimes I'll walk away from my laptop for an hour or two and when I come back its clear that my laptop has rebooted itself.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Google Chrome. I tried that sandbox thing or w/e that is. Eventually I uninstalled Chrome it and installed Google Chrome Canary Build. Though the crashing is less frequent with Canary, it still occurs. I'm not 100% sure if the issues are due to Chrome. I've tried using Firefox or IE for a few hours and within that time I don't see any consequences. Then I'll open Chrome and within an hour or two I'll have a crash. I've had to force reboot over 35 times within the last 9 days. No joke. I've tried 2 system restores to different dates and that didn't work either.
Please help. I love google chrome and I really want to keep using it. I heard it may be a hardware problem but I'm not sure.
Edit: Before the crashing began I didn't download anything within a month or so other than a trial flash picture program but crashing didn't occur until about 4 days after I downloaded it. And I uninstalled the program after the first crash.
I also ran virus scans with McAfee and Malwarebytes, neither detected anything.
