I like this Chinese proverb; very old:
"Tell me and I forget,
Show me and I remember,
Have me do it and I understand."
King Solomon in the bible wrote aphorisms like there was no tomorrow, which I guess a lot of people felt/feel in that way of life, but some of his are good:
(as you will see, I have an old-fashioned bible. The quotes are in Proverbs)
"Hatred stirreth up strife: but love covereth all sins."
"Heaviness in the heart of a man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad."
"Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall."
"Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it."
and on like that. I hope you're getting lots of good aphorisms; I don't really know that many, and I already saw where it looks like you got a really long copy-and-paste. okay--
