in this country? When it happens that somebody in sport makes any sort of racial comment, let's take the "black c..." episode. Yes it is BAD and unacceptable and deserves the full weight of condemnation it got ... but mind you, in sport and "battle" i would not hesitate (for example) to use "that fat c...", "that redheaded c...", that little c...", "that big c...", "that skinny c..." .... so do think there is a bit of hypersensitivity here and an immediate assumption that there is something inferior about being black, fat, redheaded, little, big, skinny ..... rather than distinctive .... and in the case in point i would rather believe that i am being singled out as the major problem that my opponent feels needs to be overcome if they hope to win, and therefore be complimented by the fact that they are so afraid of me!
YET ... please tell me i am wrong when i observe everywhere in this country incredible reaction to violations of PC but no real recognition of our racial attitudes which are so incredibly prevalent that to be so strong in the case of PC violation yet taking few positive steps to overcome our racial intolerance and in particular the lack of willingness to try to understand why our own wonderful aboriginal culture continues to be marginalized, vilified. It is not surprising to me that i attracted a response to my question posted here Why Can We Not Recognize the Incredible Heritage we have as Inhabitants of this Continent? ... as put forward by Spaceman Spiff which (the racist outpouring of Spaceman i mean) drew just one excellent condemnation? Am i wrong in believing that the vast majority of Australians really do feel this way? Why as ordinary Australians we cannot see what has been done to these people and truly accept that we who now consider the minerals in the ground to be "ours" will just YELL at anyone using the same logic to argue that in fact, maybe they belong to those who first found this country, inhabited it for 40 to 50,000 years and were considered not to exist "Terra Nullius" (nothing more than a deliberate lie), justifying under law (whose law?) it's annexation (still bemoaning the Mabo decision as "bullshit"). It's time our racist views were brought out in the open and properly dealt with instead of expressing horror when PC is contravened, yet maintaining huge and widespread racism as we do. And it is not confined to our own wonderful people but far too many people of different cultures, religions and color who have (like us) immigrated over the past 220 years, to the land occupied by aboriginal Australians for at least 40,000 years.
