Will you find out if your eligible for fafsa before you put your tuition deposit?

My parents don't want to put in the tuition deposit to secure my placement in the college until they know how much money financial aid will provide, because they don't want to secure my place then they don't have the money to pay for the college. Will they let me know before or after my tuition deposit?
